Hydropower, also known as hydroelectricpower, is the use of the energy of moving water to generate electricity. It is one of the oldest and most widely used renewable sources of energy.
There are different types of hydropower plants, including:
Reservoir Hydropower: Uses a dam to create a reservoir for storing water.
Run-of-River Hydropower: Does not require a dam and uses the natural flow of the river to generate electricity.
Pumped Storage Hydropower: Stores energy by pumping water from a lower reservoir to a higher reservoir during off-peak hours, and then releases it to generate electricity during peak demand.
