There are two main types of lenses: convex and concave.
Convex Lens: Also known as a converging lens, a convex lens is thicker in the middle and thinner at the edges. It causes parallel light rays to converge at a focal point.
Concave Lens: Also known as a diverging lens, a concave lens is thinner in the middle and thicker at the edges. It causes parallel light rays to diverge as if they originated from a focal point behind the lens.
Apply scientific and engineering ideas to design, evaluate, and refine a device that minimizes the force on a macroscopic object during a collision.
Energy
Students who demonstrate understanding can:
Develop and use models to illustrate that energy at the macroscopic scale can be accounted for as either motions of particles or energy stored in fields.
