Force

Force is a push or pull upon an object resulting from the object's interaction with another object. It is a vector quantity, meaning it has both magnitude and direction.

Types of Forces

Gravity - the force that pulls objects towards each other
Friction - the force that opposes motion when two surfaces are in contact
Applied force - a force that is applied to an object by a person or another object
Normal force - the force exerted by a surface to support the weight of an object resting on it
Tension - the force that is transmitted through a string, rope, cable, or wire when it is pulled tight by forces acting from opposite ends

Effects of Forces

Forces can cause several effects on objects, including:

Change in motion - Forces can cause objects to start moving, stop moving, or change direction.
Deformation - Forces can cause objects to change shape or size.
Acceleration - Forces can cause objects to speed up, slow down, or change direction.

Newton's Laws of Motion

Newton's laws of motion describe the relationship between the motion of an object and the forces acting on it.

First Law (Law of Inertia): An object at rest stays at rest and an object in motion stays in motion with the same speed and in the same direction unless acted upon by an unbalanced force.
Second Law (F=ma): The acceleration of an object is directly proportional to the net force acting on it and inversely proportional to its mass.
Third Law (Action-Reaction): For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction.
