Makemake is a dwarf planet located in the Kuiper Belt, a region of the outer Solar System. It was discovered in 2005 by a team of astronomers led by Mike Brown.
Makemake is known for its reddish-brown color and its relatively low density. It is the second brightest object in the Kuiper Belt after Pluto. Its surface is covered in frozen methane, ethane, and possibly nitrogen, giving it a distinct appearance.
Makemake has an orbital period of about 310 years and is located at an average distance of 45 astronomical units (AU) from the Sun. It has a diameter of approximately 1,430 kilometers, making it smaller than Pluto and Eris, but larger than Haumea.
