What is Salt?
Salt is a compound composed of
sodium
and chloride
ions
.
It is a naturally occurring
mineral
found in seawater and in underground deposits.
Salt is essential for
human health
and is involved in various physiological functions, such as maintaining
blood
pressure
and
fluid balance

It is also commonly used as a
food
preservative and seasoning.
Types of Salt
Table salt: the most commonly used type of salt, typically refined to remove

and additives.
Sea
salt: harvested through the

Kosher salt: a coarse-grained salt that is commonly used in cooking and for koshering meat.
Himalayan pink salt: mined from the Khewra Salt Mine in Pakistan, it is believed to contain trace
minerals
that give it a pink color.
