Venus is the second planet from the Sun in our solar system and is often referred to as Earth's "sister planet" due to their similar size and composition.
Venus has a very thick atmosphere that traps heat, making it the hottest planet in our solar system with surface temperatures reaching up to 900 degrees Fahrenheit (475 degrees Celsius).
It rotates on its axis in the opposite direction to most planets (retrograde rotation).
