Reflection of Light

Reflection of light is the process by which light bounces off a surface, changing direction. When light hits a smooth, shiny surface, such as a mirror, it reflects off at the same angle at which it hit the surface. This is known as the law of reflection.

The angle of incidence, which is the angle between the incoming light ray and the perpendicular (normal) to the surface, is equal to the angle of reflection, which is the angle between the reflected light ray and the normal. This relationship can be expressed using the equation:

angle of incidence = angle of reflection

This process of reflection is what allows us to see objects that do not produce their own light, such as the moon, by reflecting the light from the sun.
