Definition
Modal verbs are a type of auxiliary verbs that express necessity, possibility, ability, or future intention.

Usage
Modal verbs are used before other verbs to modify their meaning. They do not change their form for different subjects.
- Ability: She can swim.
- Permission: You may leave the room.
- Obligation: We must finish the project.
- Possibility: It might rain today.
- Future Intention: I will call you later.
Negative and Question Forms
Modal verbs are also used in negative and question forms by adding "not" or by inverting the subject and the modal verb.
- Negative: She cannot attend the meeting.
- Question: Can you help me with this?
Examples
Here are some examples of modal verbs in sentences:
- He should study for the test.
- We could go to the movies if you want.
- They may not be home yet.
- I will help you with your homework.
