Capitalization

Capitalization is the use of capital letters at the beginning of a word.

• Proper Nouns: Capitalize the names of specific people, places, and things. Example: New York City, John Smith, Eiffel Tower
• First Word in a Sentence: Always capitalize the first word in a sentence. Example: The sun is shining.
• Days, Months, and Holidays: Capitalize the names of days, months, and holidays. Example: Monday, December, Thanksgiving

Punctuation

Punctuation marks are symbols that help make the meaning of written language clear.

• Period (.): Use a period at the end of a declarative sentence. Example: I like to read.
• Question Mark (?): Use a question mark at the end of an interrogative sentence. Example: Where are you going?
