Adverbs of Time Study Guide
An adverb of time is a word that describes when an action is happening. It tells us when or for how long something happens.
Types of Adverbs of Time
- Adverbs of definite time: now, then, today, tomorrow, yesterday
- Adverbs of indefinite time: always, often, sometimes, seldom, never
- Adverbs of frequency: hourly, daily, weekly, monthly, yearly
- Adverbs of duration: for, since, until
Placement of Adverbs of Time
Adverbs of time can be placed at the beginning, in the middle, or at the end of a sentence, depending on the emphasis you want to give to the timing of the action.
Examples
1. He will arrive soon.
2. She always wakes up early.
3. They visit their grandparents daily.
4. I have been studying French since last year.

Identify the adverbs of time in the following sentences:
- She arrived yesterday.
- We will go to the beach tomorrow.
- He often plays the guitar.
- They have been waiting patiently.
