Definition

A noun is a word that represents a person, place, thing, or idea. Nouns are used to name and identify people, objects, places, and concepts.

Types of Nouns

There are several types of nouns:

• Proper Nouns: Names of specific people, places, or things. They are always capitalized (e.g. Mary, London, Eiffel Tower).
• Common Nouns: Names of general items, not specific ones (e.g. dog, city, building).
• Concrete Nouns: Names of things that can be perceived by the senses (e.g. book, tree, apple).

Functions of Nouns
