Addition
Addition is a basic mathematical operation that combines two or more numbers to find their total sum. It is denoted by the "+" symbol.
Example:
If we add 3 and 5 together, the addition equation would be:
3 + 5 = 8
Properties of Addition:
- Commutative Property: The order of addends can be changed without affecting the sum. For example, 3 + 5 = 5 + 3.
- Associative Property: The grouping of addends can be changed without affecting the sum. For example, (2 + 3) + 4 = 2 + (3 + 4).
- Identity Property: The sum of any number and 0 is the number itself. For example, 7 + 0 = 7.
Using Addition:
Addition is used in various real-life situations such as adding up items in a shopping cart, finding the total score in a game, or calculating the total cost of multiple items.
