Introduction to Hours

Hours are a unit of time measurement commonly used to track the passage of time in a day. There are 24 hours in a day, with each hour further divided into 60 minutes.

Converting Hours

To convert hours to minutes, you can use the following formula:

Minutes = Hours * 60

To convert hours to seconds, you can use the following formula:

Seconds = Hours * 60 * 60

Calculating Elapsed Time

When calculating elapsed time, you subtract the starting time from the ending time to find the time that has passed. For example, to find the elapsed time between 3:00 PM and 6:30 PM, you would subtract 3:00 PM from 6:30 PM to get 3 hours and 30 minutes.

Practice Problems

1. Convert 2.5 hours to minutes.

Answer: Minutes = 2.5 * 60 = 150 minutes

2. Convert 4 hours to seconds.

Answer: Seconds = 4 * 60 * 60 = 14,400 seconds

3. Find the elapsed time between 9:45 AM and 2:30 PM.

Answer: Elapsed time = 2 hours and 45 minutes
