Parallelogram Study Guide
Definition
A parallelogram is a quadrilateral with opposite sides that are parallel and equal in length. This means that opposite angles are also equal.
Properties
- Opposite sides are parallel and equal in length
- Opposite angles are equal
- Consecutive angles are supplementary (add up to 180 degrees)
- Diagonals bisect each other
- Diagonals are not necessarily equal in length
Formulas
Perimeter = 2 * (length + width)
Types of Parallelograms
There are different types of parallelograms, including:
- Rectangle: A parallelogram with four right angles
- Rhombus: A parallelogram with all sides equal
- Square: A parallelogram with four equal sides and four right angles
