A pyramid is a polyhedron with a polygonal base and triangular faces that meet at a common point called the apex. The base can be any polygon, but the most common type of pyramid has a square base, which is called a square pyramid. Pyramids are named according to the shape of their base, so a pyramid with a triangular base is called a triangular pyramid, a pyramid with a pentagonal base is called a pentagonal pyramid, and so on.
Surface Area (SA) of a Pyramid:
SA = B + (1/2)Pl
Where B is the area of the base, P is the perimeter of the base, and l is the slant height of the pyramid. The slant height can be calculated using the Pythagorean theorem: l = sqrt(h^2 + (s/2)^2), where h is the height of the pyramid and s is the length of one side of the base.
Volume (V) of a Pyramid:
V = (1/3)Bh
Where B is the area of the base and h is the height of the pyramid.
