Earth
The Earth is the third planet from the Sun and the only astronomical object known to harbor life. It is the densest planet in the Solar System and the largest of the four terrestrial planets.
Structure of the Earth
The Earth is composed of several layers:
- Crust: The outermost layer, where we live, composed of solid rock.
- Mantle: The layer beneath the crust, composed of semi-solid rock.
- Outer core: The layer beneath the mantle, composed of liquid iron and nickel.
- Inner core: The innermost layer, composed of solid iron and nickel.
Atmosphere
The Earth's atmosphere is a layer of gases that surrounds the planet and is held in place by gravity. It is composed of nitrogen, oxygen, carbon dioxide, and other trace gases. The atmosphere plays a crucial role in supporting life on Earth by providing the air we breathe and regulating the planet's temperature.
