In the food chain, consumers are organisms that cannot produce their own food and must consume other organisms for energy. Consumers are classified into three main categories: herbivores, carnivores, and omnivores.
Herbivores are animals that primarily feed on plants. They obtain their energy by consuming leaves, fruits, seeds, and other plant parts. Some examples of herbivores include cows, deer, rabbits, and giraffes.
Carnivores are animals that primarily feed on other animals. They obtain their energy by hunting and consuming other animals. Examples of carnivores include lions, tigers, wolves, and eagles.
Omnivores are animals that consume both plants and animals. They obtain their energy by eating a combination of plant matter and other animals. Humans, bears, raccoons, and pigs are examples of omnivores.
