What is Light?
Light is a form of energy that travels in waves and can move through different materials and even through space.
Properties of Light
- Light travels in straight lines
- Light can be reflected, refracted, and dispersed
- Light can be absorbed by certain materials
- Light can be polarized
- Light can be described in terms of its wavelength and frequency
Sources of Light
The primary source of light is the Sun. Other sources of light include artificial sources such as light bulbs, candles, and fires.
How Do We See Objects?
When light reflects off an object and enters our eyes, it allows us to see the object. The color of an object is determined by the wavelengths of light that it reflects.
Colors of Light
Light is made up of different colors that can be seen in a spectrum. The colors of light include red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet.
Uses of Light
Light has various practical applications including vision, photography, communication (fiber optics), and many other areas of science and technology.
