Tectonic movements refer to the large-scale movements of the Earth'slithosphere, the outermost layer of the Earth, which is made up of the crust and the upper part of the mantle. These movements are responsible for shaping the Earth's surface and are driven by the heat generated from the Earth's core.
Types of Tectonic Movements
There are three primary types of tectonic movements:
Folding: When tectonic forces compress the Earth'scrust, it can cause the crust to bend and buckle, resulting in the formation of folds in the rock layers. This process is responsible for creating mountain ranges and other large-scale geological structures.
Faulting:Tectonic forces can also cause the Earth'scrust to break and slide along fractures known as faults. This movement can result in earthquakes and the formation of fault lines.
Use models to describe that energy in animals’ food (used for body repair, growth, motion, and to maintain body warmth) was once energy from the sun.
