Nuts are a type of fruit consisting of a hard shell and an edible seed. They are a rich source of nutrients, including protein, healthy fats, fiber, vitamins, and minerals. Nuts are classified into different categories based on their botanical characteristics and culinary uses.
Classification of Nuts
Tree Nuts: Nuts that grow on trees, such as almonds, walnuts, cashews, and pistachios.
Ground Nuts: Nuts that grow underground, like peanuts.
Seed Nuts: Nuts that are botanically seeds but are used in similar ways to true nuts, such as sunflower seeds and pumpkin seeds.
Physics: Students will use scientific skills and processes to explain the interactions of matter and energy and the energy transformations that occur.
Thermodynamics: Identify and explain that heat energy is a product of the conversion of one form of energy to another.
Identify and describe the various forms of energy that are transformed in order for systems (living and non-living) to operate: Chemical - Flashlight-Light; Mechanical - Pulleys-Motion; Solar/Radiant - Solar calculator; Chemical - Plant cells.
