Pressure is the force applied perpendicular to the surface of an object per unit area. It is a measure of how much force is acting on a certain area. The formula for pressure is:
Where pressure is measured in pascals (Pa), force is measured in newtons (N), and area is measured in square meters (m2).
Factors affecting pressure:
Force: The greater the force applied to an area, the greater the pressure.
Area: The smaller the area over which the force is distributed, the greater the pressure.
Units of Pressure:
The SI unit of pressure is the pascal (Pa), but other common units include atmospheres (atm), millimeters of mercury (mmHg), and pounds per square inch (psi).
