Nervous Tissue
Nervous tissue is a type of tissue found in the nervous system, which includes the brain, spinal cord, and nerves. It is made up of two main types of cells: neurons and neuroglia.
Neurons
Neurons are the cells that transmit information in the form of electrical signals. They have a cell body, dendrites (which receive signals from other neurons), and an axon (which transmits signals to other cells).
Neuroglia
Neuroglia, also known as glial cells, are support cells for the neurons. They provide support and protection for the neurons, and also play a role in the immune response of the nervous system.
Functions of Nervous Tissue
Nervous tissue is responsible for transmitting and processing information in the body. It allows for communication between different parts of the body and helps regulate bodily functions.
