Properties of a Trapezoid

1. A trapezoid has four sides and four angles.
2. It has at least one pair of parallel sides.
3. The sum of the interior angles of a trapezoid is 360 degrees.
4. The diagonals of a trapezoid are not necessarily equal in length.

Formulas for a Trapezoid

Area of a trapezoid = ((base1 + base2) * height) / 2

Perimeter of a trapezoid = sum of all the sides

Example

Find the area and perimeter of a trapezoid with base1 = 5 cm, base2 = 9 cm, and height = 4 cm.

Area = ((5 + 9) * 4) / 2 = 56 square cm

Perimeter = 5 + 9 + 4 + 4 = 22 cm
