Day - Study Guide
Definition
A day is a unit of time that consists of 24 hours. It is based on the time it takes for the Earth to rotate once on its axis.
Types of Days
- Solar Day: The time it takes for the Sun to return to the same position in the sky.
- Sidereal Day: The time it takes for a specific star to return to the same position in the sky.
Subdivisions of a Day
Conversion
To convert days to hours, multiply the number of days by 24. To convert days to minutes, multiply the number of days by 1440 (24 hours * 60 minutes).
