Canada Day
Canada Day is the national day of Canada, celebrated on July 1st each year. It marks the anniversary of the Constitution Act, 1867, which united the three separate colonies of the Province of Canada, Nova Scotia, and New Brunswick into a single Dominion within the British Empire called Canada.
History
In 1867, the British North America Act created the Dominion of Canada as a self-governing entity within the British Empire. Over time, Canada gradually gained more independence from Britain, and in 1982, the Constitution Act patriated the Canadian constitution, granting full sovereignty to Canada.
Celebrations
Canada Day is celebrated with various events such as parades, fireworks, concerts, and citizenship ceremonies. Many Canadians also engage in outdoor activities and spend time with family and friends.
