Odd Numbers

Odd numbers are whole numbers that cannot be divided evenly by 2. In other words, if you divide an odd number by 2, you will always have a remainder of 1.

Characteristics of Odd Numbers:

1. Every odd number can be represented in the form 2n + 1, where n is a whole number.
2. The first few odd numbers are: 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 11, 13, 15, 17, 19, 21, 23, 25, 27, 29, 31, ...
3. Odd numbers are always one less or one more than an even number.
4. When you add two odd numbers together, the sum is always an even number.
5. When you subtract an odd number from an odd number, the result is always an even number.

Examples of Odd Numbers:

• 1 is the smallest odd number.

• 5 is the third odd number.
