Divide

Dividing is the process of separating a number into equal parts. It is the opposite operation of multiplication. When we divide, we are essentially finding out how many times one number can be subtracted from another.

• Remainder: The amount left over when the dividend cannot be divided evenly by the divisor.

Steps for Division

1. Write the dividend and the divisor in the division equation.
2. Start with the leftmost digit of the dividend and divide it by the divisor.
3. If the divisor is larger than the first digit of the dividend, continue to the next digit and consider it as part of the number being divided.
4. Continue this process until all the digits in the dividend have been divided.
5. If there is a remainder, it is written as a fraction, decimal, or as a whole number with the remainder written next to it.
